This year’s Emirates Australian Open will be played from 27-30 November at The Australian Golf Club in Sydney.

Returning to the course for the first time since 2007 when Craig Parry lifted the Stonehaven Cup, the championship will be the penultimate event on the 2014 PGA Tour of Australasia schedule.

A new-look Australian Golf Club was unveiled last year following Jack Nicklaus’s extensive re-design of one Australia’s oldest courses.

Golf Australia CEO Stephen Pitt said the organisation was excited about returning to the course which hosted the first Australian Open in 1904.

“There is such a strong historical link to the Emirates Australian Open at The Australian Golf Club,” Pitt said.

“Jack Nicklaus won three of his six Australian Open titles at The Australian and the list of Open champions at this venue includes Greg Norman, David Graham, Kel Nagle, Bob Shearer, Peter Lonard and most recently Craig Parry. We’re looking forward to huge week of golf in Sydney where even more history will be made.”

The Australian Masters (held from 20-23 November) will precede the Open with the Australian PGA Championship following from 11-14 December
